The father of O'Grady is Jim O'Grady. Her mother, Jan, was a financial planner. The family was raised by her parents within Wheaton (Illinois) where she completed her studies in 1981 at the North High School in Wheaton. Before shifting into Los Angeles, she appeared in commercials for a number of companies. The career path O'Grady started her career as model for Montgomery Ward, and well making several commercials.
